New visiting researcher

The IEE-ULB welcomes Ms. Gisela Hernández González, Pre-PhD Researcher at IPP-CSIC. She is enrolled in the doctoral programme in “Law, Governance and Public Policies” at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).

She holds a Master’s degree in European Union from the University Institute for European Studies, CEU San Pablo (2020) and BA in International Relations from Universidad Complutense Madrid.

Ms. Hernández González will be at the IEE-ULB from September 2023 to November 2023. Professor Ramona Coman will supervise her research stay.

Her research at the IEE-ULB

Ms. Gisela Hernández González’s doctoral thesis consists of five articles and covers the design of enforcement instruments and the dynamics that explain the Council’s behaviour and how it affects the actions of other institutions in relation to the enforcement of the Rule of Law.

During her research stay, she will conduct interviews with relevant actors in European institutions for the two pending papers (on the intra-institutional dynamics of the Council and on its role in the design and approval of the conditionality regulation). Her visit at the IEE-ULB will allow her to improve the empirical component of her PhD research, gain insights into the preferences of the main institutional actors involved and allow her to receive feedback from the research community at the IEE-ULB.
