New visiting researcher

The IEE-ULB welcomes Ms. Dora Hegedus , a PhD candidate in Political Science at LUISS Guido Carli University under the supervision of Professors Thomas Cristiansen and Sergio Fabrini.

She holds a Master’s degree in Global Europe: Culture and Conflict from the London School of Economics (2018), and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Queen Mary University of London (2015).

Ms. Dora Hegedus arrived at the IEE-ULB on April 17 and will be conducting research here until June 9, 2023. Professor Ramona Coman will supervise her research stay.

Her research at the IEE-ULB

The title of Ms. Dora Hegedus’ doctoral thesis is “Towards a Europe of Subregions? Investigating the Illiberal Challenge of the Visegrad Group”. The question the dissertation attempts to answer is Why do enduring subregional coalitions emerge within the EU? Why do some subregions become permanent blocks, while others remain issue-specific short-lived alliances?”.

During her research stay, Ms. Dora Hegedus will develop her empirical research on the creation of sub-regions within the EU.

Her visit at the IEE-ULB will allow her to further develop the research outcomes of her PhD, while finalizing the empirical findings and give her the opportunity to receive feedback from the research community at the IEE-ULB.
