New visiting researcher

The IEE-ULB welcomes Mr. Maurice Pascal Nzumbu lo Ambetima (contact: mambetima@luiss.it et maurice.ambetima@uniroma1.it). Mr. Nzumbu lo Ambetima is a PhD candidate in Public, Comparative and International Law with a major in International Order and Human Rights at the Sapiens University of Rome, where he works under the supervision of Professor Francesco Battaglia.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from LUISS Guido Carli (2016) and a double Master’s degree in International Relations from the ULB and LUISS Guido Carli (2018).

Mr. Nzumbu lo Ambetima will be at the IEE-ULB from 14 September 2021 to 26 January 2022. Professor Chloé Brière will supervise his research stay.

His research at the IEE-ULB

The title of Mr. Nzumbu lo Ambetima’s doctoral thesis is “Genesis, evolution and prospects of the partnership between the European Union and member states of the OACPS (EU LAW)”. The dissertation is dedicated to the “Origins, evolution and perspectives of the Cotonou agreement” and falls within the scope of the IEE-ULB research theme ‘Europe in the World’.

During his research stay, Mr. Nzumbu lo Ambetima’s research will focus on the partnership between the European Union and its member states, on the one hand, and member states of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, on the other hand. The research appears to be of the utmost importance since the new partnership is expected to be concluded by the end of the year 2021. While following this final process, Mr. Nzumbu lo Ambetima will discuss the new partnership with OACP staff and EU officials and exchange points of view on this topic with IEE affiliates.
