Miriana is pursuing her doctoral studies under the guidance of Professors Maurizio Ridolfi and Sante Cruciani. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science – International Security Studies (2022) and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations (2020), both from Tuscia University in Viterbo.

Her academic interests lie in the history and evolution of the European Parliament, particularly the role of its President. Her PhD project, titled “David Sassoli and the Renewal of European Institutions,” examines the institutional and political contributions of President Sassoli, with a focus on democratic renewal and the construction of a shared European historical memory.

Her Research at IEE-ULB

During her time at the IEE-ULB, Ms. Perlorca is deepening her research on the role of the European Parliament in shaping the European Union, with a particular focus on David Sassoli’s legacy. Her work explores how Sassoli’s leadership impacted the Parliament’s relations with other EU institutions, especially in the context of debates around democratic deficit and the Union’s governance capacity.

The aim of her research is to offer new insights into the evolving role of the President of the European Parliament and its implications for institutional dynamics and power structures within the EU.

We are pleased to have her among us and look forward to the contributions her research will bring to the academic community at IEE-ULB.
