Three years after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and as the EU faces new geopolitical, energy and commercial challenges, the bloc’s economic governance framework is in great need for adjustment. Against this background, the European Commission has, in November 2022, put forward orientations for the reform of the framework, and later made, in April 2023, a number of legislative proposals towards a revision of the Stability and Growth Pact. The response to the American Inflation Reduction Act is too in the making.
To discuss the reform prospects and the challenges ahead, Amandine Crespy and Paul Dermine are pleased and honored to convene a roundtable at the Institut d’études europénnes of the Université libre de Bruxelles, which will involve:
- MEP Irene Tinagli, chair of the ECON Committee within the European Parliament,
- Massimo Suardi, director for Macroeconomic Policies at DG ECFIN, European Commission, and
- Grégory Claeys, senior fellow at Bruegel.
Date: Tuesday, June 6th, 2023
Time: 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Place: Institut d’études europénnes of the ULB / 39 Avenue Franklin Roosevelt/ Spaak room (IEE)
