This conference is divided into two panels to discuss the CJEU judgments: The legal and constitutional reasoning and implications of the judgments (2:00 – 4:00 p.m.) and The political implications of the judgments for the Union institutional system, decision-making and legitimacy (4:15-6:15 p.m.)

“The legal and constitutional reasoning and implications of the judgments“
(2:00-4:00 p.m.)
This roundtable intends to address questions related to the reasoning followed by the Court in its judgments, and to its consequences for the future application of the Regulation. Issues to be discussed include the budgetary implications, what the judgments tells us about the legal nature of the Union and the status of Member States, the understanding of Article 7 TEU, the constitutional identity of the Union and of the Member States, and the fundamental principle of institutional balance. It will be chaired by Professor Arnaud Van Waeyenberge.
