The Executive Master in European Union Studies (MEUS)

Academic Director: Mrs. Anne WEYEMBERGH  et Mrs. Ramona COMAN

Administrative coordinator: Mr Pierre VIEREZET

The IEE’s main programme in Executive Education is the “Executive Master in European Studies” (or MEUS). The MEUS is intended for EU professionals wishing to refine their knowledge and skills on specific issues with which European Institutions are daily confronted in Brussels and elsewhere.

The programme proposes a perfect balance between, on the one hand, high-level academic requirements and, on the other hand, a “self-empowerment” approach, in harmony with the “professionalization” facet of the diploma.

Classes are offered in the evening (and on Saturdays for some courses), and are exclusively available in English, in order to fulfill the wishes of the programme’s targeted audience. It is composed of three distinct but complementary modules, and a final thesis. A first module includes five core courses in economics, political science and law. Besides, participants can choose between two “optional” modules. The first focuses on internal European issues, unlike the second, which focuses on the external relations of the EU (“The EU and the World”).

Last but not least, the “professionalization” module is composed of three complementary courses, which display the wide range of activities of EU professionals and practitioners.

Flexibility is ensured. Students may indeed choose to follow specific parts of the programme only. According to their preference and professional needs, they can register either for the “professionalization module” or for one of the elective modules offered in the MEUS. This is particularly pertinent for professionals wishing to improve either specific knowledge or skills on EU-related issues without registering for a whole academic year. Last but not least, the MEUS offers the opportunity to reinforce the participants’ general and specific knowledge of the EU and its functioning. It also provides participants with a deeper insight of the daily activities of EU professionals, in order to improve their competencies for a future international career.

The 60 credit program can be completed in one year or 2 years.

 MEUS Alumni speak...

"Really nice and rich experience. I enjoyed the classes, the professors and the professional and personal relationship you can build with them and the other students." Riccardo, 2011-2012 edition

"When a program is designed for professionals and taught by professionals great things can happen!" Marisol, 2016-2017 edition

Our Executive Master in EU Studies is partnering the LLM Business Law of the Faculty of Law and Criminology for the 1st quadrimester 2016-2017. LLM students can follow our MEUS courses while joint activities are organised between both programmes to enable cross-fertilization and networking.
