What role does competition policy still play in the European Union today?

The thematic chapter on “Europe and the economy” continues this week with an article by Jean-François Bellis, Professor at the Centre de droit européen (CDE), ULB. 

According to Professor Bellis, competition policy has long been one of the European Commission’s flagship policies. While not calling into question the importance of that policy, the new geopolitical objectives assigned to the Union are now top of the agenda.
