MEUS - Career Development around EU Affairs - (3 ECTS).

Learning Objectives :
The main objective of “Career development around EU Affairs” is to help students develop skills and competencies that will support their career strategies in the labour market around EU institutions.
Working on your professional project, your own strengths and skills and understanding employers’ needs and how to best articulate your aims with the Brussels opportunities , designing efficient CV and cover letters as preparing yourself for interviews, creating a solid network, are some of the subjects covered in these sessions.
Learning Outcomes :
By the end of this course, the student will be able :
- To be prepared to apply for a job and gain tips to succeed in it
- To better understand the European work environment
- To acquire communications tools and techniques in that context
Methods of teaching :
Interactive method and common construction
Self-reflective exercises , questionnaires, lecturettes, interview simulations, etc…
During the course, experts from a variety of fields (EU institutions, lobbying groups, think tanks, NGO’s,..) come to share their experience and their advice with the students.
Other activities such as a mentoring programme between the students and AlumnIEE, the association of IEE graduate students, are also organized to accompagny the student’s job search.
Course requirements and grading :
No requirements as this course is designed to be useful regardless of your stage of career development.
During the course : Attending the six sessions of 2 hours each; active participation counts for 10% of the final grade.
Final test : Oral and written presentation of your professional project
Academic Integrity : Students are expected to abide by all MEUS academic rules. In particular, any evidence of plagiarism or cheating will be sanctioned by a 0/20 at the exam.
